Woodblocks, oil painting on board, and pastel drawings—my preferred media—are all ancient. But striving to make them relevant to me and my time is my task at hand.

I have been especially influenced by the pastel drawings of nudes and landscapes by Edgar Degas—drawings so rich and layered they could be paintings.
